I don’t need to tell you that the 80th Assembly District has its fair share of pollution problems. Dirty rainwater, cross-border pollution, smog from the Port of San Diego, and traffic congestion, just to name a few.
The fight for clean air and clean water for ourselves and our families never ends, and we deserve to be represented by someone who not only understands these problems but has the ability to fix them.
That’s why I want to tell you about Lorena Gonzalez. As the Secretary-Treasurer of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council, and as the daughter of an immigrant farm worker and a nurse, she has been a leading voice for working families. More importantly, she has a record of working for everyone’s right to clean air, clean water, and healthy neighborhoods.
Lorena served on the State Lands Commission under Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante. She was also an Alternate on the California Coastal Commission to Commissioner Ben Hueso. She worked to create the Chula Vista Master Plan, which heavily focused on environmental justice issues. She was a lead organizer to oppose the construction of the Trestles toll road. She is also the longest-serving board member of our sister organization, the League of Conservation Voters, San Diego.
Lorena already has a strong record of environmental accomplishments. That’s why I know she will be an environmental leader for us in Sacramento. Please vote for Lorena Gonzalez as your next Assembly member!
If you vote by mail, you should be receiving your ballot any day now. If you plan to vote in person, mark your calendar for Election Day on Tuesday, May 21st. The right leaders will help us make a California that future generations will be proud of.
Don’t forget to vote!
